Border Crossing Requirements
Passports, letters of consent and more!
It is each family's responsibility to obtain the appropriate documentation for crossing the border.
ALL students' must have a valid passport.
While some border information states that other pieces of government identification are possible for crossing, it has been our experience that once at the border, these requirements can change. To ensure we do not have any issues in crossing, we require that all students' have a valid passport.
If you are not a Canadian citizen, there are extra steps needed to be taken. Please ensure you read the form below carefully to ensure you have the proper requirements.
OKM requires a photocopy of students' passports. This helps us in the worst case scenario that a passport is lost or stolen and also helps us when speaking with the border guards. Please forward a copy of your son/daughters passport to Ms. Frederick as soon as possible.
Passport security is extremely important to us. We will collect all passports before boarding the bus at OKM and will hold them until we are at the border. After we have crossed, staff will collect all the passports and will keep them locked in a hotel safe until it is time to go home. This ensures the least chance of a passport being lost. Students cannot keep their passports with them. If one is lost, the entire tour is jeopardized.
Travel Consent Letter:
All students must have a signed letter of consent to travel. These letters do not have to be notarized, but do need to be witnessed by a person over the age of 18. I will be sending home a copy for parents to fill out closer to our travel date. Please do not create your own. It is important to have consistency between all student letters.
