Grade 9 Concert Band Whistler 2019 Tour Itinerary and Information.
All students are to meet in the multi at 7:00am SHARP for attendance. We will be organizing students into chaperone groups, taking an inventory of all instruments and sorting luggage. Please help us by ensuring you arrive on time.
Transportation - we were really lucky this year to have another Kelowna school heading down to the festival. Rutland Senior has a small group of students attending as well and we were just a few students over the 56 person capacity bus. By sharing the cost of two busses we were able to lower the cost for all students!
Food - We will be making a short lunch stop on the drive down where students can purchase food. It is also always important to have snacks in your backpack to hold you over to the next meal. Please - NO NUTS on the bus. We have students with severe allergies on tour. Students are responsible for all meals while on tour except for our one group dinner together on Friday evening. All rooms have full kitchens for cooking. Once we arrive in Whistler, we will be taking students to the local IGA to purchase any groceries they need. There are also a ton of affordable restaurants for students to purchase meals at.
Only a small number of students indicated they had dietary restrictions on their permission forms. Please message Ms. Frederick this weekend if you have an allergy, are vegetarian, vegan, etc. so we can ensure the group dinner is right for you!
Packing Tips - Please ensure you read the Packing Tips info posted on the website to ensure you have everything you need for performing and the allowed size/amount of luggage.
Family Contact Sheet -Contact information for our hotel, school staff and tour company will be sent home with students. It will not be posted to the website for safety reasons.
Remind Texting - It is IMPERATIVE that parents sign-up for the Whistler Remind Texting group. I will be communicating our arrival time back home through this app as well as updating parents during the tour. If you have not already done so, please sign up for it by clicking here.
Zipline Sign-up - If you signed-up to participate in the Zipline Tour, please check the list of students by clicking here. If you handed in a permission form and your name is not on the list, please contact Ms. Frederick ASAP! An invoice with final payment and information will be coming home soon.
Itinerary - The itinerary for our tour is posted below. We have purposely left off the timings other than at the beginning as they will inevitably change while we are on tour for a variety of reasons. In order to avoid confusion for students, we do not give out times for meeting points, concerts, etc until necessary. Our arrival time back home will be communicated through our Remind Group. The time posted below is an estimate. We hope to be able to arrive earlier if possible. Parents, please ensure you are in the remind group and watching for our updates on Sunday, May 5th. We will all be anxious to get home to our families so please ensure that you are at OKM ready to pick up your son/daughter at the time communicated through the app!
