Purpose of Study: To participate in a performance tour to Victoria and Nanaimo. Participate in performances, workshops, and clinics with local musicians, teachers, and professors.
Description of Activities/Itinerary: Description of Activities: Travel by bus to Victoria. Participate in local performances with high school music programs, participate in clinics at UVIC and VIU, attend a concert at a local venue, visit the BC Museum, IMAX, and Malahat Skywalk, Optional Wild Play Tour
Inherent Risks of Participating: Travel to and from Victoria/Nanaimo. Touring downtown and local schools. Walking on and off stages and performance areas. Students will have some free time in our "buddy system". All those associated with contracting a communicable disease and associated risks with COVID-19. Poor decision making by students. Wild Play optional Tour - detailed info will be sent home to parents with a separate permission form closer to the tour. Parents must look at the itinerary to consider all possible risks.

Payment Details:
This tour is budgeted at $1100.00. This price could fluctuate as the final cost is subject to the number of participants.
Insurance:
Insurance is a mandatory requirement for all tour participants. Included in the cost of the tour is the Manulife Premium Protection Plan. This is the most comprehensive plan we have been able to find and includes quarantine coverage and a Cancel For Any Reason benefit for events related to COVID-19. Details on the plan and links to the full policy are below. It is up to all families to review the information to be familiar with what the policy does and does not cover. Parents can choose to opt-out of the provided insurance plan but must purchase coverage and send proof of purchase to Ms. Frederick. The cost of the provided Manulife insurance will be deducted from the final payment for any families that choose to do so.

Please note, this policy provides quarantine coverage and a Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) benefit for events related to COVID-19. Some details and a link to the policy are below.
In the absence of a Canadian Government “avoid non-essential travel” advisory for your destination, fully vaccinated travellers are covered for quarantine and up to $10 million emergency medical (including COVID-19), cancellation and interruption, travel disruption, baggage loss, damage and delay, and travel accident. The PPP provides a CFAR benefit of up to 100% cancellation coverage (less cost of insurance premium) for all unforeseen and unexpected events that happen after you have purchased the insurance. It also provides up to 80% cancellation coverage (less price of insurance premium) should you wish to cancel due to most circumstances of which you were aware at the time of purchasing the insurance, including COVID-19 (limitations apply).

- To perform concerts in a variety of settings.
- To perform for music professors/clinicians at Vancouver Island University/University of Victoria and then participate in workshops where students build on the skills they have been developing.
- Practice social/emotional skills during group travel away from home.
- Learn group work skills by building a performance set-list together as a team.
- Learn proper audience etiquette by attending professional concerts.

- Initial deposit of $550.00 due November 23rd (school cash online) along with the parent permission form. (signed form to be brought back to the music room)
- Second payment due mid January
- Final Payment due March
- All payments made are 100% non-refundable
